Veil (Resized)
Otto's comment (placed here because we can't figure out how to get photos into the comment box):
the veil (curtain on the clothesline) image reminded me formally of this blank screen. the presence of the objects surrounding the blank rectangles in the
centre of the picture is heightened; the curtain is meant to let light through, and the screen is meant is to reflect light. but both speak of framing
the natural world.

The drive-in is the Motor Vu Drive in Dallas, Oregon as it stands today. (It's from their website.)
I wondered if the image "Veil" is a painting. There seems to be a grain on the surface image.
...Looking at all the drive-in images in the daytime, they look ghostly. Something about them still being there - a residual presence, like a thing that hasn't finished existing.
i should have written "will let light through" and "will reflect light." i was thinking of their purpose.
I took the photo "Veil" in the backyard of my parents' house about two or three years ago. There's actually a series of photos of my mother hanging the sheer curtains on this little clothesline. The green bowl has been around since my childhood. My brother and I are now getting ready to sell the house (where we both grew up). I'm having trouble seeing the whole process clearly (thus, the veil, I think). I know that because of the housing market in S. Ontario, the house will sell quickly and pass quickly out of our lives. I don't know if "nostalgia" is the right descriptor. Maybe it's "possession".
